Shingle Roof Repair
Shingle roof repair traces a leak or damage to its real source and fixes it properly, whether that’s a cracked pipe boot, a wind-lifted tab, a nail pop or failed flashing. QRS repairs shingle roofs across Los Angeles and Orange County, with photos of the problem and the fix and no push toward a new roof.
Overview
On a shingle roof, water rarely comes in where the ceiling stain appears. It slips past a failed seal, runs along the underlayment or a rafter and drips somewhere else, which is why guesswork leads to patches that miss. We trace the leak back to where it starts, whether that’s a split rubber collar on a plumbing vent, step flashing pulled away from a stucco wall, a popped nail or a valley packed with leaves. Then we photograph it, so you can see the cause for yourself before anything is fixed.
A good repair is built like the rest of the roof. When we replace shingles, we lift the courses above them carefully, nail the new pieces in the manufacturer’s nailing zone and reseal the tabs we disturbed. Failed flashing gets reset or replaced, not just covered with another layer of sealant. If the wear turns out to be roof-wide, we’ll say so plainly and explain when a shingle roof replacement makes more sense. Not sure what’s going on up there? Start with a free roof evaluation.

Why Choose QRS for Shingle Roof Repair?
A repair should solve the problem you called about, and you should be able to see that it did.
Repair first, when repair will do
If a repair solves it, that’s what we recommend. A cracked pipe boot is not a reason to sell you a new roof.
Leak tracing, not guesswork
We follow the water’s path back to the entry point, so the fix goes where the problem actually is.
Proof you can see
You get photos of the damaged flashing or shingle before we touch it and of the finished repair afterward.
Local weather know-how
We repair shingle roofs all over Los Angeles and Orange County, so we know how coastal air, valley heat and Santa Ana winds each wear a roof down.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about shingle roof repair.
Can you replace just a few shingles?
Yes. Damaged or missing shingles can be replaced one at a time by lifting the courses above, sliding in new pieces and resealing the tabs. Weathered shingles fade, though, and some shingle lines get discontinued, so new pieces may look slightly different at first. We use the closest available match and tell you what to expect up front.
What should I do after Santa Ana winds damage my roof?
Check from the ground for missing shingles, tabs folded back and shingle pieces in the yard, but stay off the roof. Wind can crease a tab without tearing it off, and a creased shingle is much more likely to tear loose in the next strong gust. A roofer can find those and replace them before the rain arrives.
Why does my roof only leak in heavy rain?
Leaks that show up only in heavy or wind-driven rain often come from flashings, valleys or pipe boots, where water gets past only when there’s a lot of it. If the drip is under a flat section over a porch or addition, our flat roof repairs page explains how those roofs are handled.
What’s the difference between a repair and a tune-up?
A repair fixes a specific problem that’s already leaking or damaged. A shingle roof tune-up is one visit that handles several small issues, like loose tabs and dried-out sealant, before they become leaks.
Is a nail pop really a problem?
It can be. A nail that backs out pushes up the shingle above it and leaves a path for water to follow the nail into the deck. We remove or reset the fastener, seal it and replace the shingle if the nail has punched through.
